New Fashion Era

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

From head to toe, the details star in the "looks" of international catwalks, such as Paris, where the designers seem to have agreed when proposing plain garments in terms of color, in which the wealth lies in elements such as accessories or volumes.

Thus, the interest in the prints of previous seasons has given way to painstaking creative work, which has given rise to earrings, scarves and footwear, for which the traditional label of "accessories" has become too small.

Constructing styling with well-chosen basic garments and accessories is one of the fundamental maxims of "street style", a lesson that has been internalized by various designers on their walk on the Paris catwalk, and which has been reflected in collections full of scarves and jewelery.

From young firms such as Jour / Né, to the most established ones, such as Valentino or Yves Saint Laurent, all have developed their own manual for the use of elements, such as silk scarves, which no longer only wear the neck, but move to head to knot delicately under the chin, in true Hitchcock style.

And it was precisely some of their favorite actresses, such as Audrey Hepburn, Kim Novak or Janet Leigh, who made this complement a synonym for style in the 50s of the last century, even taking out its most sensual side, like Brigitte Bardot did.

Now, this "vintage" trend is updated with different patterns and colors, or by mixing scarves with other accessories, such as maxi-earrings, geometric and glitter-covered, which are already part of the modern wardrobe background.

Belts have also been the common trend among French and international houses, such as the Belgian Y / Project, the Taiwanese Shiatzy Chen or the Russian Valentin Yudashkin, who have recovered the wide garments adjusted to the waist with leather straps of artistic buckles, or sports tapes, in fabric, with a double ring.

The use of belts is just one of the gestures with which this Fashion Week has recalled the importance of playing with the volumes that, after years under the rule of minimalism, now regain their trend range.

Its maximum exponent has been, without a doubt, Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, who has created a collection where the feminine and rebellious essence of the house is materialized, in the form of black mini-dresses, of shiny fabrics, with large Necklines and puffed sleeves.

Some volumes that have been repeated in Y / Project, although, in his case, Glenn Martens has opted for a much more romantic version, achieving these exaggerated forms through the accumulation of layers of lace and tulle.

But XXL ruffles are not the only formula to get 3D garments, as demonstrated by Julie Paskal, the Ukrainian designer who has mimicked flower petals using full-bodied fabrics, which have allowed her to build bags, skirts and "tops" that they scream spring!

Beyond scarves, earrings and ruffles, if there has been a star accessory on the Paris catwalk, it has been footwear, which has relegated utility to the background and is now presented as a true work of textile engineering.

Boots with wings, wrinkled or with a crocodile costume (not because of the skin, but because of the shape), are some of the original proposals for footwear presented in Paris, and the best proof that accessories are definitely the most important of the outfits.

Yves Saint Laurent conquered the catwalk with black ankle boots and boots covered in fine feathers, which enhanced the brand's personality and endowed the steps of the models with strength and sensuality, turning them into nocturnal birds of paradise.

A more chaotic effect, halfway between admiration and estrangement, was achieved by Y / Project with its wrinkled boots, as was Loewe, whose "ready-to-wear" clothes walked on the catwalk uploaded to pointed-toe boot trainers. of slippers, worthy of a Aladdin of the XXI century.

Sandals that twist around the legs like a creeper and large multi-colored platforms end up filling the "must-have" list for next spring-summer, in which the denim pants uniform and white basic shirt makes more sense than ever, yes, always with accessories.

White clothing is one of the most elegant and sophisticated, but also the most delicate, what to do so that it is always impeccable? Here we tell you.

One of the most important shades in the fashion world and that every fashionista should have in her closet is white. The white clothes are really showy. According to the psychology of color, people who wear white transmit an image of goodness, purity and innocence, because this color symbolizes peace, humility and love. Besides that we cannot deny the elegance of a white tailor suit and the sophistication and simplicity of a white shirt.

On the market there are literally pieces of all kinds in this shade, ranging from sweaters, dresses, pants, blouses, shirts to ties and accessories. These garments are usually very comfortable and are also easy to combine. However, despite its benefits, sometimes before buying a garment of this color, it is likely that many will think twice about it, since white is reputed to be very delicate.

Sweat, rubbing with other garments and even the same environment can make the heavenly white of our garments fade and transform into a yellowish or even grayish tone, causing us to leave our clothes at the back of the wardrobe, further aggravating this situation.

During this quarantine season, it is well known that our daily “looks” are made of pants, sweatshirts and comfortable clothing in general, so that for the time being, formal shirts, dresses or suits will be kept for a long time. But if this is not your case and you still use that white tailor suit for your meeting in a video call, pay attention because here we bring you interesting and super useful tricks to clarify your white clothes and leave them as new and best of all, that we only use products that you probably already have at home.

Add a cup of white vinegar along with your detergent and wash your clothes as usual. This will help give it that vitality and help you get rid of stains like sweat.

Surely you know that this product is frequently used in cleaning thanks to its properties. To say goodbye to spoiled clothing, put half a cup of dissolved baking soda in your detergent. In case you are looking to eliminate specific spots mix a teaspoon of baking soda with the juice of half a lemon and apply it directly to the affected areas. Leave to act and then wash normally.

You must place the hydrogen peroxide necessary to soak the garment in a container. If it is a large garment, half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide will be ideal , if it is a blouse, shirt or delicately woven garment, add a quarter of the bottle. Let the piece soak for two hours, rinse and wash regularly.

Lemon juice alone has properties that will help keep your clothes white. All you have to do is boil a liter of water and add the juice of two lemons to later soak the garment in that mixture for half an hour. When removing the garment, rub with medium force the parts that you consider to be most affected. For example, in the case of blouses or shirts it could be the cuffs, the neck and the armpit area. When it comes to pants the knee area is usually the most damaged. Finally rinse the garment with plenty of water.

Also, keep these tips in mind to avoid reaching the point of having to find alternatives to return the white to your clothes, but you can keep it that way all the time:

- Do not mix white clothes with other colored pieces when washing them.

- When you can, get your white clothes out in the sun, as UV rays are known to help keep them shiny.

- When you notice a stain, do not let it take too long to find a way to remove it. Otherwise, you will have to apply more products or force at the time of rubbing to remove it and that could damage your clothes.

- Remember, before applying any of these products, make a test in an inconspicuous area of the garment. This will help prevent clothes from spoiling and you can choose the best option for you.

Two of the most emblematic fashion houses, Dior and Louis Vuitton, propose fashion and travel books, axes of their particular history to commemorate Book Day.

"Keeping the promise of adventure and escape, books are priceless objects of dreams, where art, imagination and reality meet", explain the managers of Dior, who propose a selection of ten books to achieve a timeless journey through The couture.

As it could not be otherwise, the first has to do with the personal story of Christian Dior, "Dior by Dior", to later unravel the talent of his successors thanks to the selection of photographs , with images by artists such as Peter Lindbergh, Nikolai von Bismarck or Paolo Roversi.

Louis Vuitton managed from his birth, more than 160 years ago, to transform the way of traveling thanks to his ability to observe and the thoroughness of his work. His desire to ensure that everything we transport on a trip in the most comfortable way has linked the house for life to travel.

So much so, that the fashion firm has a collection of books, "Travel Books", with 19 publications, to which today it adds three more, with destinations that show the vision of artists from around the world.

The novelties of this spring are "Barcelona" under the vision of the French painter Marc Desgrandchamps; Morocco, thanks to the brush of Canadian artist Marcel Dzama, and Saint Petersburg, portrayed by the American fashion illustrator Kelly.

These three new additions are added to the 19 books already published , among which are Los Angeles, by Javier Mariscal; Seoul, by the French duo Icinori; Rome, by Miles Hyman; or Route 66, by Thomas Ott.

Among the pages of these travel books, illustrations by renowned artists and new talents, the stories of the cities and countries visited by them are narrated , reflecting the passage of time through the daily life of its people.

The French brand Saint Laurent announced that - taking advantage of the situation due to the coronavirus pandemic - in 2020 it will carry its own agenda, without adjusting to the official one.

According to the Women's Wear Daily (WWD), the fashion house founded by Yves Saint Laurent in 1936 sent a statement in which they stated that “aware of the current situation in which we find ourselves and of the radical changes that this situation imposes, Saint Laurent has decided to take over his rhythm and reform the calendar. Now more than ever, the brand will be guided by its own tempo, thus legitimizing the value of time and connecting with people globally, bringing them closer together in their own spaces and lives. With this strategy in mind, Saint Laurent will not present its collections in any of the 2020 predetermined calendars. Saint Laurent will take ownership of its own calendar and will launch the collections according to a plan conceived according to a perspective that will be updated daily guided by the creativity".

Also, it emerged that the company of memorable collections such as Pop Art, Ballet Russes, Picasso and China is analyzing the future of advertising campaigns and strategies.

“We are still investigating how to advertise this year, as it is essential to maintain the image of the brand and promote it. The launch of the campaigns will probably be aligned with the arrival of the collections at the store, and the chosen media will be the ones that best communicate with the customers in each market, ” the communication continued.

The Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion, organizer of the Fashion Weeks in Paris, announced on March 27 the cancellation of its next two editions, that of men and haute couture, which were to be held initially in June and July and at that Saint Laurent would not participate anyway.

If the evolution of the situation with the COVID-19 allows it, the next women's ready-to-wear shows are scheduled between September 28 and October 6, where Saint Laurent normally shows his clothes.
